The Public Safety Broadband Technology Association (PSBTA) will bring public safety leaders, first responders, technology experts and industry partners together again September 13–15, 2027, for the 6th annual Vision FirstNet Users Summit at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas.
Building on the momentum and real-world insights shared at the 2026 summit, the 2027 conference will bring public safety professionals and industry experts together to explore the evolving communications needs of public safety, share lessons learned and real-world use cases, showcase emerging hardware and software technologies within the FirstNet ecosystem, and examine the partnerships and strategies helping agencies strengthen connectivity, interoperability, and resilience.
The 2026 summit highlighted the rapidly changing public safety communications landscape, with practitioners sharing real-world experiences and solutions across a range of critical issues. The issues explored at the 2026 summit reflected an ever-evolving environment for public safety professionals. Broadband and LMR are increasingly interconnected, agencies are adopting new approaches to infrastructure and coverage, and technologies such as hybrid devices, location intelligence, AI, and autonomous systems are creating new operational possibilities.
Some session highlights at the 2026 Summit included: how public safety leaders in Medford, Oregon, partnered with community stakeholders, the Western Fire Chiefs Association (WFCA) and private-sector organizations to address a coverage gap and develop new infrastructure; how agencies in Pierce County and Grant County, both in Washington State, are using broadband, cloud-based platforms and emerging technologies to expand operational capabilities while maintaining mission-critical communications; and how lessons from the 2023 Maui wildfires provided important insights into emergency response, recovery and the ongoing efforts to strengthen communications resilience. Other sessions examined hybrid devices and interoperability, the role of location intelligence in drone first response, and the importance of grassroots advocacy in advancing public safety communications. Together, the sessions demonstrated the importance of collaboration, innovation, and sharing lessons learned across the public safety community.
Building on this momentum, the 2027 Vision FirstNet Users Summit will continue to serve as a premier forum for collaboration, innovation, and meaningful dialogue across the public safety community. Information about Call for[1] Papers, speakers, educational programs, and registration for the 2027 Vision FirstNet Users Summit will be announced in the coming months.
“The 2027 Vision FirstNet Users Summit will continue to bring together public safety professionals, policymakers, and industry partners to share lessons learned, explore emerging FirstNet technologies, and help shape the future of public safety communications,” said Rich Carrizzo, president of the PSBTA. “It’s an opportunity to learn from peers and discuss how these tools can be applied in the field.”
