Dr. Weiss is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh,
Courtesy Faculty at the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute, and an Attending
Emergency and EMS Physician at UPMC. In the Division of Emergency Medical Services, Dr.
Weiss specializes in out of hospital care and medical transport. His passion for medicine started
in Bloomington, IN, at IU where he trained and worked as an EMT earning cherished
experience, friends and mentors. He completed his residency and fellowship training here at the
University of Pittsburgh.
He is Medical Director of the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety, an attending
emergency physician at Mercy Hospital, as well as serves as a flight physician and Assistant
Medical Director for STAT MedEvac and medical command physician for UPMC
Communications Center and Airline Consultation Service, STAT-MD. He serves as the Medical
Director of City of Pittsburgh Police-SWAT and Carnegie Mellon University EMS. Dr. Weiss also
serves as Medical Director for Allegheny County Emergency Services and 911
Communications.
Lenny is thrilled to be part of the residency program, serving as Director of the Prehospital
Rotation, enraptured by "all things Jeep". He is co-investigator for the University of Pittsburgh
Resuscitation Logistics and Informatics Venture (ReLIVe) and holds board certifications in
Emergency Medicine and the Emergency Medical Services subspecialty. His career is focused
on EMS and combining technology, invention, public health and medicine. He has a passion for
